LOUISVILLE AWAITS LEXINGTON FOR THE WAR ON 64

Game Notes

Louisville, Ky.-The Louisville Fire (2-2) look for a victory as they return home this week for the inaugural War on 64. The Fire will face in state rival, Lexington Horsemen (3-1) for the first time on Saturday April 26 in Freedom Hall.

Louisville is coming off a disappointing 41-30 loss to the Tennessee Valley Vipers. Quarterback Aaron Marshall led the Fire running game with 29 yards and one rushing touchdown in the first quarter. In the middle of the second quarter Louisville posted back-to-back scores , a 53-yard kick return from

Broderick Clark and a 19-yard pass taken in by Ricardo Lenhart which tied the score at 20 just before the half. Louisville was fairly quiet until Lonnell Dewalt caught a 13-yard pass from Marshall in the first minutes of the fourth quarter. Leading the Fire defense was rookie Dominic Ross, securing 8.5 total tackles. Both Keller Speaks and Jerome Jones posted a tackle for a loss for eight and five yards respectively. Kicker Danny Kight put up a successful field goal at the end of the fourth quarter, concluding the Fire battle.

Lexington rides into this week’s contest off a 41-35 victory over Mahoning Valley.
The Horsemen offense was led by quarterback Eddie Eviston passing for over 180 yards and connecting on four touchdowns. ADT defensive player of the game, William Mulder led the Lexington defense with 3.5 total tackles, two fumble recoveries, and a 23-yard interception run.

“Lexington is a very physical team and they capitalize on everybody else’s mistakes. They’re the kind of team that if you let them hang around with you they will capitalize off your mistakes”, commented Head Coach Tommy Johnson

With a 2-2 record the Louisville Fire are in third place in the American Conference and a game behind the division leader Lexington, sitting at 3-1.
