ARENA FOOTBALL WEEK 13

With a weekend that was anything but boring, the AFL saw upsets, blowouts and down to the final play games that were both exciting and entertaining for the fans to watch. Following that lead, this Memorial Day weekend is guaranteed to be explosive when teams from around the league face off. The action starts early this week when the Kansas City Brigade (2-9) travel to a rowdy Philadelphia to take on the Soul (10-2), who played in front of a capacity crowd of over 18,000 last weekend. Ces’are Manning, who led the Brigade in receiving in their loss to Orlando with 7 catches for 70 yards, looks to help his team pull out the win this weekend against the Soul. The game is on Thursday May 22 at 7:30 ET.

Friday night plays host to some action packed games starting when the Dallas Desperados head to Orlando. Dallas (9-2), who has fallen to second place in their division, after a shocking upset, and only their second loss of the season, at the hands of Arizona are looking to redeem themselves against the Predators. The Orlando Predators however, are riding high with a win over Kansas City in the final seconds of the game are looking to keep that momentum this weekend. The battle begins at 7:30. Also playing at 7:30 Friday night are the Tampa Bay Storm (5-6) when they welcome the 7-4 Cleveland Gladiators. Quarterback Brett Dietz, who threw for five touchdowns and almost 300 yards in their victory over Grand Rapids, is hoping to improve their record with a win at home this weekend. However, taking down the Gladiators will be no easy task. They have won three straight and four out of their last five and are hoping to add to that win streak this weekend.

Saturday night will see a collection of big games when the New York Dragons start the night off in Columbus at 7:00 ET. Both the Dragons and the Destroyers dropped their games last weekend and sit at the bottom of the National Eastern Division. The Destroyers (2-9) have yet to win a divisional game and are hoping to change their fortunes this weekend with the Dragons (6-5). Following that game at 9:00 ET will be the Chicago Rush visiting the Utah Blaze. The Rush (9-2), who clinched the central division with their win over Los Angeles last weekend look to keep their five game win streak alive with a victory over the struggling Blaze (2-10). At 10:00 ET Saturday night the Grand Rapid Rampage (3-8) travel to Arizona to take on the Rattlers. Arizona (5-6), who stunned the league with a game-winning touchdown to defeat Dallas last weekend are looking to do the same when the Rampage come to town. Closing out the night are the Colorado Crush and the San Jose SaberCats at 10:30 ET. The Colorado Crush (4-7) have lost four out of their last five games are in need of a win against the 7-5 SaberCats who stand atop the American Western Division.

The Georgia Force and New Orleans VooDoo will collide on Memorial Day for an explosive National Southern Division face off. The Force is coming off a comeback victory against New York this past weekend in which Tiger Jones tallied 15 catches for 224 yards and six touchdowns. Georgia, who is 6-5 and have won their last three, will be taking on a well-rested New Orleans team (7-4) on Monday at 8:00 ET on ESPN2.

The Los Angeles Avengers will not be in action this week but rather regrouping after a blowout loss to Chicago 72-28. The Avengers (4-8) have loss two in a row and are looking for a change in fortune when they host their division leaders the San Jose SaberCats on May 31. Los Angeles has already lost once to the SaberCats this season and are looking to better their playoff chances with a win this time around.
