DEFENSIVE LEADER TO REJOIN FIRE

Louisville, KY-The Louisville Fire Arena Football team has added two players to the roster; Matt Forbes (5’10, 185, William Penn) and Derek Brown (5’11, 215, Wisconsin-Whitewater).

Forbes is the first member of the 2007 secondary to resign. The 2008 season will be his sixth season in the arenafootball2. Forbes has spent time with the Quad City Steamwheelers and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers. During the 2007 season Forbes amassed 82.0 tackles, 24 pass deflections, 6 interceptions, and a touchdown.

“Matt [Forbes] is still one of the best players in af2 and he should be in the AFL,” answered Head Coach Tommy Johnson when asked about Matt Forbes. “Not only does he have the ability to be outstanding but he also has the mind of a coach.”

Joining Forbes in the secondary is a rookie from Wisconsin-Whitewater, Derek Brown. In four seasons with the Warhawks, Brown acquired 163 tackles and 10 interceptions. During his senior season, he had 72 tackles, 6 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries, and 1 safety.

“Derek [Brown] will be a great addition to our team,” replied Assistant Head Coach George Eskridge when asked about Derek Brown. “We love his versatility, experience, and ability to know how to win a championship because of his time at Wisconsin-Whitewater.”

The Louisville Fire will kickoff the 2008 season against the Iowa Barnstormers on March 29. Season tickets for the 2008 Fire season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 502.368.0009 today. Season tickets packages begin at $72.
