FOUR
MORE PLAYERS ASSIGNED TO FIRE ROSTER
Louisville, KY-The Louisville
Fire Arena Football team was assigned
four more players for the 2008 season,
Tim Long (6’5, 360, Lane College), Ricardo
Lenhart (6’2, 190, Otterbein College),
Nick Giordano (6’2, 210, Winona State),
and Tavoris Horton (6’1, 260, Gardner-Webb).
Tim Long has played three
seasons in arenafootball2 and 2008 will
be his second season with the Fire. During
the 2007 season, the offensive linemen
played in 12 games and started 11 games.
Last season the Fire’s offensive line
paved the way for one of the league’s
top running backs, Demetrius Forney, and
established the Fire as the top rushing
team in 2007. He played for the Memphis
Xplorers in 2003 and 2004. While with
the Xplorers he played in 20 games and
started 6 of them.
“Tim [Long] is an experienced
lineman with great size and mobility;
he was a solid anchor last season,” stated
Fire assistant coach George Eskridge.
Ricardo Lenhart will make
his debut in arenafootball2 with the Fire
in 2008. In 39 games at Otterbein he accumulated
2,579, 176 receptions and 16 touchdowns.
In 2005, Lenhart became the career receiving
leader in school history. He was All-Ohio
Athletic Conference in 2004 and 2005.
“Lenhart is a good receiver
with good size and hands; reminds us of
Rob Mager. He impressed us last season
when he came to a try-out last season,
but had to go back and finish school,”
replied Eskridge when asked about Lenhart.
Nick Giordano played in two games during
the 2007 season with the Green Bay Blizzard.
He had 5 receptions for 70 yards, two
touchdowns and one field goal return for
31 yards. Girodano impressed coaches at
the October try-out.
“Giordano has experience
in af2 and the ability to run solid routes,”
according to Eskridge. “He has all of
the tools to become an AFL receiver.”
Tavoris Horton, from Macon,
GA, will be playing in af2 for the first
time. While playing at Gardner-Webb he
was second team Big South Conference in
2004 playing linebacker. Horton’s has
ties to the NFL; his second cousin is
Takeo Spikes.
Eskridge said, “Horton has
good speed for his size and the versatility
to play all defensive positions.”
