TWO PLAYERS SET TO REJOIN FIRE

Louisville, KY-The Louisville Fire announced that Lawrence Matthews (6’4, 195, Western Illinois) and Demetrius Forney (5’11, 285, Campbellsville) are returning for the 2008 season. The Fire also announced that Antoine Horton (5’11, 205, Cincinnati) has also been assigned to the 2008 roster.

Lawrence Matthews will be returning for his fourth season with the Fire, and fifth in arenafootball2. He spent his rookie season with the Peoria Pirates and also spent one season in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes. While playing with the Peoria Pirates he was Rookie of the Year in 2004. During the 2007, Matthews was named to the First Team All-af2.

Demetrius Forney is also returning to the Fire. Forney is entering his fourth season with the Fire. He also spent one year in with the Manchester Wolves. Forney holds many of the Fire rushing records with the most rushing yards and the most touchdowns in a season. He also hosts the Fire’s most rushing touchdowns all-time with 41 touchdowns.

“With Demetrius [Forney] and Lawrence [Matthews] coming back, they’ll make our team instantly better,” stated Head Coach Tommy Johnson. “It is rare to have so many veterans on an af2 team.”

Antoine Horton will be joining the Fire for his rookie season in af2. Horton played four seasons for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats from 2003-2006. Last season he was on Tri-Cities Fever team but did not see any action.

“Antoine [Horton] is a solid, hard hitting defensive back,” replied Johnson when asked about Horton. “He will be able to do things in the secondary and he is a good fit. When he was at Cincinnati he was a strong player.”

The Louisville Fire will kickoff the 2008 season against the Iowa Barnstormers on March 29. Season tickets for the 2008 Fire season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 502.368.0009 today. Season tickets packages begin at $72.
